J. Pink Dance, LLC

J. Pink Dance is a community-based youth development organization that uses dance as a vehicle to build confidence, discipline, leadership, and cultural pride among young people in the Lowcountry. Over four years, the program grew from 24 to 70 students, with demand consistently outpacing its available space, leaving the organization maintaining a waitlist and unable to run simultaneous classes.

The Investment

In September 2026, the Lowcountry Impact Fund recommended a $51,500 loan through Abundance Capital to fund the build-out of J. Pink Dance’s first permanent studio location in North Charleston. The capital supports construction, dance flooring, mirrors, ballet barres, and sound equipment needed to expand enrollment capacity, reduce the waitlist, and grow toward serving more than 100 students annually.

"Every young person in the Lowcountry deserves access to high-quality, culturally responsive dance education, regardless of their family's ability to pay top-dollar studio rates."
Jameshia Means, founder and director of J. Pink Dance
