Drive Smart Academy is a South Carolina-based driver education company focused on expanding access to high-quality instruction, defensive driving skills, and safe driving preparation. Its work focuses on students struggling with anxiety or other neurodivergent differences, while contributing to broader community safety and mobility. For many young people and adults, learning to drive is more than a personal milestone. A driver’s license can affect access to school, work, caregiving responsibilities, and everyday participation in community life. By expanding driver education capacity, Drive Smart Academy helps students build lifelong safety skills while reducing transportation-related barriers. In 2025, the Village Launch Catalytic Fund recommended a $30,000 loan through Abundance Capital to support Drive Smart Academy’s growth. The loan supports fleet expansion, instructor development, technology systems, enrollment growth, and scholarship capacity for students who face cost barriers. These investments strengthen the company’s ability to serve more students while building a sustainable local education enterprise.
