The fund was created to address regional funding gaps while helping build a stronger capital marketplace for local businesses. Following Hurricane Helene, the need for growth capital in Western North Carolina became even more urgent. Many entrepreneurs faced disruption, uncertainty, and limited access to the resources needed not only to recover but to continue building resilient businesses and local economies. In 2026, Abundance Angels and partners committed $158,900 to Impact WNC. Because this is a fund investment, capital is called over time and deployed by the fund into a portfolio of companies rather than into a single business. The fund’s investment approach prioritizes entrepreneurs and companies that can create sustainable economic growth, higher-wage jobs, a more diverse regional economy, and products or services that benefit communities across Western North Carolina. It also emphasizes ecosystem impact by connecting founders, investors, and regional partners around shared economic development goals.
