The Investment
Greenville, SC, has grown quickly, but affordable housing options for the workforce that keeps the city running have not kept pace. Teachers, healthcare workers, hospitality employees, and public servants increasingly face rising housing costs and limited housing options near where they work. Union House was created to address that challenge. The concept centered on purpose-built co-living homes designed specifically for roommate living. The model offered private suites, shared common spaces, and all-inclusive rents at a price point accessible to residents earning approximately 80 percent of Area Median Income. In September 2022, Abundance Angels recommended a $75,000 equity investment to support construction of the first Union House development in Greenville’s North Main neighborhood.
